Blue Jays Announce Changes After Loss to Angels

The Toronto Blue Jays have shown flashes of brilliance this season, but they haven't been enough to get to .500. They're 16-19 and on a three-game losing streak, with their latest loss being an 8-3 defeat to the last-place Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays are last in baseball with 25 home runs as a team and are 27th with 118 RBI. Their pitching hasn't been much better, as they rank 23rd with a 4.37 ERA.

Individuals such as outfielder George Springer (.316/.419/.541) and starting pitcher Chris Bassitt (2-2, 2.95 ERA) are performing well, but Toronto needs more consistency across the board.

The front office showed its proactiveness with its series of moves on Wednesday, via the team's social media.

OF Jonatan Clase recalled from Triple-A and will be active tonight.

OF Alan Roden and RHP Dillon Tate optioned to Triple-A OF.

Clase signed with the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent in 2018 but didn't get called up to the big leagues until last season. They then traded him to the Blue Jays in July.

Close played 19 games for Seattle and seven for Toronto last season, and has played just one this year. The 22-year-old owns a career slash line of .231/.286/.308 with one homer and five RBI.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays drafted Fisher in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, and he's yet to pitch in a MLB game.
