Blue Jays' George Springer returns from quad strain, to bat fifth at Marlins

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer has been a missing figure for most of the first half of the 2021 MLB season due to injury setbacks after he signed a six-year, $150 million deal to join the Blue Jays in January.

Per the MLB website, however, Springer will play center field and bat fifth for Toronto in Tuesday's game at the Miami Marlins.

Springer was sidelined from Opening Day through April 27 because of a strained left oblique muscle and then a right quadriceps strain. The 31-year-old aggravated the quadriceps after only four appearances and hasn't been in the lineup since May 2.

He's hitting .200 with two home runs and three RBI in his limited action this year.

The Blue Jays are an even 35-35 on the season and sit fourth in the American League East standings, seven games back of the first-place Boston Red Sox.
