The Toronto Blue Jays have officially lost pitcher Hagen Danner, as he has been claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners.

The Blue Jays placed Danner on waivers back in late December when they signed Josh Walker to make room for him on the 40-man roster; and to no surprise, Danner has been claimed.

Blue Jays pitcher Hagen Danner has been claimed by the Mariners

The Mariners announced Wednesday that they have claimed pitcher Hagen Danner from the Toronto Blue Jays and that he has been added to their 40-man roster.

This is unfortunate for the Blue Jays, which were hoping by some miracle Danner would clear waivers. However, it looked unlikely with the numbers he put up last season in the minors.

The 26-year-old pitcher showed a lot of promise last season as he finished with a 3.06 ERA in 35.1 innings pitched, which is why so many were surprised when he was designated for assignment.

Hopefully, the Blue Jays get a lot out of Josh Walker this season and do not end up looking bad after letting go of Danner to make room for him on their 40-man roster.

This was another questionable move by Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins, who seems to have made a ton of those over the winter.

Danner will likely see some time in the majors this season for Seattle if he builds off his 2024 year.
