Blue Jays Legend Jose Bautista Makes Announcement on Wednesday
Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

Jose Bautista spent 10 seasons rewriting the Toronto Blue Jays record book, with the biggest moment of his time in Toronto coming in 2015 in Game 5 of the American League Division Series with a home run and the infamous bat flip that followed.

Now, in his time away from baseball, the six-time All-Star announced a new venture away from the field: the inaugural Bautista Ultimate Golf Weekend, a four-day charity event set for December 3-6 at Cabot Citrus Farms. Bautista shared the news on Instagram with Member For A Day. The event will pair current and former athletes across multiple courses and formats.

Multiple ticket packages are available now, according to the post.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a couple of organizations: the Bautista Impact Fund, a partnership with the SickKids Foundation and the Jays Care Foundation, the Blue Jays’ official charity. The SickKids Foundation raises money for Toronto’s hospital for Sick Children, while Jays Care funds youth baseball and softball programs all across Canada.

Former catchers Jorge Posada and Ivan Rodriguez are expected to attend, along with other players like Johnny Damon, Jose Reyes and more.

Bautista hit 344 home runs across 15 MLB seasons and became a fixture of the franchise’s relevance in the 2010s. He was inducted into the Blue Jays’ Level of Excellence in 2023 and has stayed connected to Toronto’s baseball community since retiring. The golf weekend adds another way for him to give back, pairing his star power with a cause focused on helping children.
