The Toronto Blue Jays enjoyed a memorable 2025 season under manager John Schneider, one that showcased both star power and resilience. In April, franchise cornerstone Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signed a historic 14-year, $500 million contract, cementing his future in Toronto.

Shortstop Bo Bichette and veteran outfielder George Springer delivered resurgent campaigns, helping fuel an offense that ranked among the most dangerous in MLB.

The Blue Jays rode that production to the top of the American League East, capturing their first division crown in a decade. Their momentum carried into October, where Toronto advanced through the postseason and reached the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Although the dream run ended with a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the season marked a turning point.

The accolades continued for Toronto following its World Series run. On Sunday, the Canadian Press announced that the 2025 Blue Jays have been named Team of the Year, a prestigious honor that underscored the magnitude of their season.

The recognition was a fitting highlight of a campaign defined by resilience, star power and a return to prominence on the national stage. "A special honour for a special team ❤️ Presenting your 2025 Team of the Year!" the club wrote on X.

The Canadian Press Team of the Year Award is presented annually to Canada’s top sports team, male or female, as determined by a poll of national sports journalists. It is awarded for outstanding performance in a given year, and in 2025 the Blue Jays stood above the rest.

Bright Future Ahead as Toronto Reloads for Another Run

Looking ahead to 2026, Toronto fans can safely expect the club to remain a contender in the American League. Barely halfway through the offseason, the Blue Jays have been aggressive in free agency, retooling the roster with significant additions.

Headlining the moves was right-hander Dylan Cease, who signed to a seven-year, $210 million deal to serve as the ace of the rotation. The back end was bolstered with the signing of Cody Ponce and the re-signing of Shane Bieber, adding depth and experience. The bullpen also received a boost with the addition of submarine pitcher Tyler Rogers, giving Toronto another reliable late-inning option.

The work is not finished, as the Blue Jays remain engaged in talks with several top offensive bats. A possible reunion with Bichette is on the table, while a bigger splash could come in the form of outfielder Kyle Tucker, widely regarded as the best available player.

With a strengthened rotation, a deeper bullpen and the potential for another impactful bat, the future looks bright for the Blue Jays as they aim to build on their 2025 success and extend their championship window.
