Blue Jays manager John Schneider ejected after ripping umpire

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider had an early exit from Monday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Schneider was ejected for arguing balls and strikes during the top of the seventh inning at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. The manager was furious after pinch hitter Davis Schneider was called out to begin the inning on a 1-2 pitch that appeared to just barely catch the bottom of the strike zone.

John Schneider came out of the dugout and appeared to shout "that's f--ing terrible" at home plate umpire Mark Ripperger. That led to a quick ejection for the Blue Jays manager, who then proceeded to have an animated discussion with Ripperger before heading to the clubhouse.

MLB umpires will typically allow managers and players to express displeasure over balls and strikes, but there is a line that cannot be crossed. Ripperger felt Schneider crossed it.

The Blue Jays have been one of the biggest surprises in baseball this season. They caught fire after a slow start and entered Monday with a 73-52 record and a five-game lead over the Boston Red Sox in the AL East.
