Jackson Hornung has started his Double-A career off well.

This is the June 24 – June 26 edition of the Minor League Report, where we look at how the last three days have gone for each of the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliates. We’ll look at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, FCL Jays, and their two DSL teams in this article. Bisons drop first three against IronPigs

It’s been a tough start to the week for the Buffalo Bisons, as they’ve dropped all three games to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. They fell 4-1 in extra innings on Tuesday, with Ali Sanchez hitting his sixth home run of the season. Adam Kloffenstein made the start, giving up one earned run and striking out five in four innings of work. Ryan Burr made a rehab appearance, walking one batter in his inning. Dillon Tate struck out three in two scoreless innings.

It wasn’t even close on Wednesday, as the Bisons fell 7-1. Orelvis Martinez and Josh Rivera each hit doubles, two of their six hits. Anders Tolhust made the start, giving up four earned runs in five innings of work.

They played a high-scoring game on Thursday, eventually falling 12-8 despite threatening to tie the game. Will Robertson hit his 13th home run and ninth double, and Will Wagner hit his third home run in Triple-A. Adam Macko had a tough start, giving up eight earned runs in two and two-thirds innings pitched.

Fisher Cats lose two of three to start the week

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats played three low-scoring games to start the week. On Tuesday, they fell 3-1 to the Hartford Yard Goats as Jackson Hornung hit his first Double-A double, and Jace Bohrofen hit a triple in his three-hit game. Juaron Watts-Brown made the start, giving up two earned runs in 4.2 innings, walking and striking out three.

They picked up a 2-1 win on Wednesday thanks to a strong start from Trey Yesavage . The top Blue Jays prospect struck out eight, walking a batter, and gave up just one hit in five innings of work. Conor Larkin had a good game, striking out two in two innings of work. Hornung hit three singles in this game, while Gabriel Martinez and Charles McAdoo each hit two singles.

On Thursday, the Yard Goats defeated the Fisher Cats 2-1. The Fisher Cats’ lone home run came off the bat of Hornung, while Peyton Williams and Eddinson Paulino each hit a double. Grant Rogers had a strong start in a losing effort, giving up two earned runs in six innings of work. Michael Dominguez struck out four in two innings of work.

Canadians split the first two games

Due to rain, the Vancouver Canadians’ game was postponed on Thursday. They won 6-3 on Tuesday, with Sean Keys, Eddie Micheletti Jr. and Je’Von Ward each hitting a home run. Victor Arias hit a double, and Canadian Nicolas Deschamps hit a triple. Jackson Wentworth had a strong start, striking out nine in six innings of one-run ball. Chay Yeager struck out five in his two innings of work.

Unfortunately, the Canadians’ rally fell short on Wednesday as they fell 5-4. Aaron Parker hit his eighth home run of the season, and Micheletti Jr. hit his second home run in as many games. Gage Stanifer made the start, striking out nine in five innings, giving up two earned runs in the process.

D-Jays plagued by rain

On Tuesday, the Dunedin Blue Jays fell 3-2 to the Bradenton Marauders. Sam Shaw hit his seventh home run of the season, and Alexis Hernandez hit his sixth double of the season. Juanmi Vasquez made the start, striking out five but allowing three earned runs in four innings of work. Johan Simon struck out six in three scoreless innings of work, and Eminen Flores struck out three in two perfect innings.

Wednesday’s game was suspended and completed on Thursday, with the D-Jays falling 7-4. Sam hit his second double of the season, and Tucker Toman hit his 11th double of the season. Austin Cates started the game, giving up three earned runs, three hits, three walks, and striking out three in 2.1 innings. Gilberto Batista pitched on Thursday, giving up four earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched.

Thursday’s second game of the doubleheader was also suspended, with the game being finished on Friday. Lizandro Rodriguez hit his first home run in the Jays’ organization, while Edward Duran hit his fifth home run of the season. Hernandez hit his second double in the series. Yimi Garcia struck out three in his inning of work. Kendry Rojas pitched the bulk of the game, striking out nine in five innings of work.

FCL Jays have won four of their last five

On Tuesday, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays’ three-game win streak came to an end, as they fell 6-4 to the FCL Phillies. Catcher Dylan Leach hit his first career double in affiliate ball, the team’s only extra-base hit. Amir Garrett made the rehab start, allowing five earned runs in a third of an inning pitched. Sann Omosako pitched the bulk of the game, going five scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

They got back in the win column on Thursday, defeating the FCL Tigers 4-2. Yorman Licourt hit his fifth home run of the season, J.R. Freethy hit a triple, and Aldo Gaxiola and Raimundo De Los Santos hit doubles. Holden Wilkerson made the start, giving up two earned runs and striking out six in five innings of work.

DSL Blue Jays Red are starting to get hot

After a tough start to their season, the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays Red have started to get hot, winning their last two games. On Tuesday, they smashed the DSL Arizona Red 11-3, but surprisingly, they had no extra-base hits. Elaineiker Coronado finished the game with two hits. Victor Espiritu struck out five without giving up an earned run in his four innings of work.

On Thursday, they defeated the DSL NYY Yankees 6-1. Luis Felipe hit a double, while Nestor Urbina and Juan Sanchez each hit a double. Coronado had a multi-hit game, going 4-4 with four singles. Marcelino Theodore struck out four in two scoreless innings of work.

DSL Blue Jays Blue split the first two games of the week

As for the DSL Blue Jays Blue, they have won a game and lost a game since Tuesday. On Tuesday, they defeated the DSL Mariners 8-6. Angel Guzman and Daniel Dominguez each hit a home run. Jose Andrades made the start, giving up four earned runs in 2.2 innings, but finishing with six strikeouts. Jorge Gonzalez struck out two in a scoreless inning.

On Thursday, they fell 8-0 to the DSL Pirates Black to drop their season record to 7-10. J.T. Bain hit his second double of the season, one of just two hits for the DSL Blue Jays Blue. Deiker Pineda had a tough start, giving up two earned runs in three innings of work while striking out three. Cesar Cerezo struck out two in 1.1 innings pitched.
