Trey Yesavage has officially arrived to The Show.

The Toronto Blue Jaystop prospect will make his highly anticipated major league debut versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, with the team announcing that his contract has been selected from triple-A Buffalo prior to first pitch. He’ll wear No. 39, last worn by outfielder Will Robertson.

As a corresponding move, left-hander Ryan Borucki has been designated for assignment, clearing space on both the 40-man and active 28-man rosters ahead of Yesavage’s debut.

Borucki made four relief appearances with Toronto after inking a minor-league contract last month following his release from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He didn’t surrender a run over 4.1 innings, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out five.

The 31-year-old was selected in the 15th round by the Blue Jays organization in 2012, making his MLB debut as a starter during the ’18 campaign.

Yesavage, the franchise’s first-round selection in last year’s draft, climbed four minor-league levels (single-A, high-A, double-A, triple-A) after making his professional debut earlier this season, amassing 160 strikeouts in 98 innings. The highly-touted righty posted a combined 3.12 ERA and 2.53 FIP across 25 games (22 starts) in the minors.

The 20th-overall selection from the ’24 draft class tossed three scoreless innings in his final start with the Bisons on Wednesday, punching out four of his nine batters faced before being lifted.

Yesavage will be opposed by fellow right-hander Joe Boyle, who was recalled from triple-A by the Rays ahead of Monday’s contest. The 26-year-old — acquired as part of last off-season’s Jeffrey Springs trade from the A’s — has struggled mightily in his past three starts with Tampa Bay, sporting a miserable 14.46 ERA and 9.47 FIP with 13 strikeouts and 10 walks over 9.1 innings.

The Blue Jays have yet to reveal what Yesavage’s role will be moving forward. But, whether they plan to continue using him as a starter or move him to the bullpen, any decision will surely be impacted by how he performs against a Rays lineup headlined by young phenom Junior Caminero.
