Blue Jays’ pitching prospect Kendry Rojas promoted to New Hampshire

Rojas, 22, has spent the entire season on the Injured List, but has recently been rehabbing in the lower minors. With the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, he allowed two runs in five innings of work, but has been dominant with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, not allowing a single run in 13 innings of work. Additionally, Rojas has a 39.1 K% and a 6.5 BB% at the level.

The left-handed Cuban ranked as our eighth-best prospect heading into this season and is well deserving of this promotion. Last season, which was mainly spent in High-A, Rojas finished with a 2.43 ERA and a 3.02 FIP in 55.2 innings pitched. From July 26 until the year, Rojas pitched in seven games, finishing with a quality start in all but one.

Rojas signed with the Blue Jays in 2020 for a bonus of $215,000. His first season saw him post a 2.28 ERA and a 2.04 FIP in 23.2 innings pitched in the FCL. He followed that up with a 3.98 ERA and a 3.06 FIP in 40.2 innings pitched in 2023, mainly with the D-Jays. In 2023, Rojas finished with a 3.75 ERA and 4.34 FIP in 84 innings pitched.

His results in the Arizona Fall League weren’t great, but he has rebounded nicely since coming off the Injured List.

There isn’t a high likelihood that he will impact the Blue Jays this season, but if he pitches well in the upper minors, there’s a chance he could be of use to the Blue Jays 26-man roster next season. He’s a four-pitch pitcher, featuring a sinker, four-seam fastball, changeup, and slider, with the fastball averaging around 95 mph.
