As per the Minor League transactions page, the Blue Jays farm system has seen some action as of late – Riley Tirotta has been called up to triple-A with Bisons’ infielder Damiano Palmegiani heading to the injured list.

Tirotta began the 2024 campaign on the IL and had a quick rehab stint down in Dunedin before heading to double-A New Hampshire in mid-April. With the Fisher Cats, Tirotta posted a .286/.438/.464 slash line with doubles, one triple, and two home runs to the tune of eight RBIs through 18 games and 56 at-bats.

The right-handed batter posted a .902 OPS through the short stint with New Hampshire and walked 16 times compared to 19 strikeouts, a testament to his keen eye at the plate.

On the field, the 25-year-old has spent time across the diamond, including stints a first base, third base, and right field while slotting in as the DH on three occasions. He owns a perfect fielding percentage at first base and right field while committing three errors at the hot corner.

Tirotta featured in the second game of yesterday’s double-header against the St. Paul Saints and the right-handed batter did well at the plate, collecting a hit through two at-bats while collecting a walk as well. His knock came off an inside sinker off veteran reliever Nick Wittgren, a 91 MPH offering that he deposited into right field for a single. He played first base for Buffalo and posted a clean sheet on the field.

In a corresponding move, the Bisons placed Damiano Palmegiani on the seven-day IL, the first injury stint in the 24-year-old’s career.

After a dominant 2023 season, the right-handed batter started the campaign in Buffalo and is trying to find his power stroke after a slow start to the season. Through 145 at-bats, the Vauxhall Jets alum owns a .228/.325/.414 slash line with six doubles and seven home runs to the tune of a .739 OPS.
