The Boston Red Sox dropped the series opener to the Baltimore Orioles last night, 4-2. The struggles at Fenway Park continue as they’re now 9-20 at Fenway Park, averaging 3.2 runs per game while allowing 4.1 runs per game. Ahead of tonight’s middle game of the series against Baltimore, the Red Sox are placing Nick Sogard on the injured list with right-side soreness, according to Sean McAdam. The Red Sox are recalling infielder Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Worcester.

Sogard, in 12 games this season with Boston, is hitting .257 with a .721 OPS. He has two doubles, a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored. In 36 games at Worcester, he’s hitting .269 with a .871 OPS. He has nine doubles, five home runs, 23 RBI, and 27 runs scored.

Seigler this season is hitting .298 with an .896 OPS. He has seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 21 RBI, and 14 runs scored. He is red hot, currently riding a six-game hitting streak in which he’s hitting .450 with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored. Seigler was a part of the trade with Milwaukee in the offseason that brought Caleb Durbin and Andruw Monasterio to Boston.

Nick Sogard

Sogard, in 73 career big league games, is hitting .264 with a .667 OPS. He has 14 doubles, a triple, 19 RBI, and 29 runs scored. In 603 career minor league games, he’s hit .272 with a .776 OPS. He has 109 doubles, nine triples, 47 home runs, 263 RBI, and 381 runs scored.

Anthony Seigler

Seigler made his big league debut last season for Milwaukee, where in 34 games he hit .194 with a .501 OPS. He had a double, five RBI, and six runs scored. In 481 career minor league games between the Yankees, Brewers, and Red Sox organizations, he’s hit .234 with a .749 OPS. He has 91 doubles, six triples, 40 home runs, 220 RBI, and 265 runs scored.
