Ahead of tonight’s game, the Red Sox are recalling right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell to serve as the 27th roster spot. Criswell this season is 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA, 6.09 FIP, a 1.89 WHIP, and four strikeouts in nine innings. In ten games, with nine of those coming as starts at Triple-A Worcester, he is 2-1 with a 2.27 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in 43.2 innings.

Criswell is in his fifth big league season. He has made 43 appearances, starting 20 of them. He posts an 8-7 record with a 4.68 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 108 strikeouts in 146 innings. In 101 career minor league games with 82 of those coming as starts, he is 23-26 with a 4.04 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 446 strikeouts in 443.1 innings. The Red Sox are his third organization, having pitched for the Rays and the Angels.
