Boston Red Sox' Slugger Joins Hall of Famers in Incredible Franchise Lore

The Boston Red Sox are playing a doubleheader on Tuesday against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.

Rafael Devers got the scoring started for the Red Sox in Game 1 with a solo home run - one that put him in an incredible list in team history.

So Devers joins the Hall of Famers' Rice and Williams as the only Sox players to have three separate 30-home run seasons before the age of 27. Devers won't turn 27 until October after the regular season concludes.

He's hitting .272 this season with 94 RBI and has posted an .852 OPS, certainly living up to the 11-year extension that the Red Sox gave him this past offseason.

He's a lifetime .281 hitter with 169 homers and 549 RBI. With Mookie Betts, JD Martinez and Xander Bogaerts gone in recent years, Devers is the centerpiece of the Red Sox and the one who can help move them forward into the next stages of franchise history.

At time of this posting, the Red Sox trail the Yankees 3-2 in the seventh inning. The two teams will play again on Tuesday night with the first pitch coming at 7:10 p.m. ET.
