Boston Red Sox Star Rafael Devers Powers Team To 19-5 Victory

Boston Red Sox Designated Hitter Rafael Devers had a game for ages this afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles. He had a career-high 8 RBI as the Red Sox drubbed the Orioles 19-5. Devers’ great performance was part of a great offensive showing from Boston. Friday afternoon’s great performance has Devers leading the league in RBI, fifth in OBP, and eighth in Slugging Percentage.

Right Fielder Rob Refsnyder added 4 RBI in the ballgame to help the Sox coast to victory. Boston’s 13 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning was historic. It was the second-most runs in the 8th inning since 1912. It was also the fourth-most runs scored during an inning in Red Sox history. Will the Boston Red Sox and Devers keep it up?

The Red Sox are in second place in the American League East with a 26-26 record. As was on display earlier today, Boston’s offense is one of the league’s best. They are sixth in batting average, seventh in home runs, and fifth in runs scored. Third Baseman Alex Bregman has also been stellar to begin the year. He is 12th in the league in RBI.

Boston’s pitching staff has been mediocre. They are 18th in ERA, 22nd in WHIP, and 24th in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Garrett Crochet has been strong in 2025. He is eighth in the league in ERA and fifth in strikeouts. Boston has a talented roster, but they have yet to play up to their potential this season.

Final Thoughts

Boston returns to the diamond tonight for the second half of their doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox hope their offensive performance can carry over into this evening’s contest.
