If you’re looking for any positive developments surrounding the Braves, over the weekend, 2024 first-round pick Cam Caminiti made his debut for the low-A Augusta GreenJackets and was absolutely dominant. The 18-year-old struck out the first three batters he faced, finishing the outing with eight in total over five innings while allowing just one hit and one earned run.

With Drake Baldwin and AJ Smith-Shawver graduating prospect status this year, Cam Caminiti is already at or near the top of the Braves prospect list.
At 18-years-old, Caminiti has a ton of projectability as a starting pitcher with the ceiling of a frontline starter. He’s already got a legit four-pitch mix, featuring a fastball that can run up near the high-90s, a very good slider and changeup, as well as a plus curveball.
The Braves farm system might not feature many position players worth discussing. It’s an area they must address moving forward, both with international free agent signings and the draft. However, there are no shortage of arms worth getting excited about at every level.
The Braves have never been shy about aggressively promoting their young pitchers through the system. They probably won’t be as aggressive in the near future with Cam Caminiti, given he’s just 18-years-old right now, but it’s very possible he ends this season with High-A Rome. He’s a prospect every Braves fan should be paying attention to when he takes the mound.
