During today’s rubber match with the Boston Red Sox, the Atlanta Braves announced they have claimed Kevin Herget off waivers from the Mets.
The #Braves today claimed RHP Kevin Herget off waivers from the New York Mets and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The 34-year-old Herget throws from the right side and has appeared in one game for the Mets this year, owning a 4.50 ERA over just two innings. For his career, he’s recorded a 4.63 ERA over 44.2 innings. However, he did have some decent numbers this year for AAA Syracuse, boasting a 2.87 ERA in 13 appearances.
We’ll see what this means for the rest of the roster. There are certainly a couple of members of the bullpen in danger of losing their jobs. Although, I’m not sure Kevin Herget is the answer, and the Braves have Craig Kimbrel healthy and throwing very well down in Gwinnett.
