Braves Announce Roster Move Before White Sox Game

The Atlanta Braves continue to have a disappointing season with a 56-69 record. Going into their Tuesday matchup against the Chicago White Sox, Atlanta sits in fourth place in the NL East, 16 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.

However, despite likely missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017, general manager Alex Anthopoulos continues to make moves to try and improve the roster for now and the future.

Braves Announce Signing of Jake Fraley

Before taking on the White Sox, the Braves announced a roster move, claiming outfielder Jake Fraley off waivers after being designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

This move automatically puts Fraley on the Braves' 40-man roster, and once he reports to the team, Atlanta can add him to the active 26-man roster, though a corresponding move would need to be made to make room.

He also becomes a piece that could help the Braves in 2026, as he still has one more year of arbitration before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2027.

How Fraley Fits Into the Braves' Lineup

Fraley has put together a decent 2025 season so far, appearing in 67 games, accumulating 168n at-bats, 39 hits, 29 runs scored, six home runs, 23 RBIs and four stolen bases. He also has a .232/.332/.387 slash line with a .719 OPS.

Right field and left field are locked up with Acuna (.974 OPS in 213 at-bats) and Jurickson Profar (.826 OPS in 180 at-bats), but center fielder Michael Harris has struggled.

In 123 games, Harris has racked up 122 hits, 43 runs scored, 15 home runs, 66 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases to go along with a .260/.280/.426 slash line and .706 OPS.

Even if Atlanta doesn't want to give Harris less playing time, the only other outfielder on the Braves' active roster is Eli White and with a .653 OPS in 232 at-bats, Fraley could prove to be a much better option off the bench.
