Braves broadcaster Brandon Gaudin named finalist for Sportscaster of the Year

Gaudin, 39, just completed his first season as the primary television play-by-play man for the Atlanta Braves after longtime broadcaster Chip Caray left to go take the head job for the St. Louis Cardinals. 

(Speaking to the St. Louis Post Dispatch ($) in late September, Caray admitted having "no regrets" about leaving Atlanta for St. Louis. He was following in the footsteps of his father Skip, who started off doing Cardinals radio broadcasts before moving to the television side with Atlanta.)

But Braves fans have been happy with the change to Gaudin, who finished just outside the top ten in a fan broadcaster survey over the summer.

Fans have positive comments about Gaudin's enthusiasm and humor, as well as his rapport with analyst Jeff Francoeur.Gaudin

Gaudin, who grew up an Atlanta Braves fan, famously still has the letter he wrote then-broadcaster Skip Caray at the age of 13, asking for advice on how to break into broadcasting. 

Outside of the MLB season, Gaudin showcases his versatility, working in multiple sports. He's called college basketball games and NFL games for Westwood One as well as college football games for the Big Ten Network. He's also been the voice of the eponymous "Madden" series of video games since 2016.

Balloting is currently underway and the winners will be announced in 2024.
