The Braves announced on Wednesday that they have claimed right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.
The #Braves today claimed RHP Ricky Vanasco off waivers from the Detroit Tigers and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Vanasco has appeared in five games this season for the Tigers, and the numbers are quite alarming, as he owns a 15.63 ERA, surrendering 11 earned runs over just 6.1 innings.
However, he’s had some decent numbers in Triple-A this season, posting a 2.53 ERA and striking out 11.5 batters per nine innings over 35 appearances.
It’s probably not likely we see much of Vanasco this year. If there’s one area the Braves have been solid all season, it’s the bullpen. Still, adding depth with major-league experience is always a plus to have in the organization in case of emergency.
