Braves DFA Rylan Bannon to make room for Nick Anderson
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Last night, the Braves made their first free agent acquisition of the offseason , signing high upside relief pitcher Nick Anderson to a one-year pact. In a corresponding move, Atlanta designated Rylan Bannon for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Bannon is a utility infielder that did appear in one game for the Braves last season, but most of his time was spent in AAA, where he actually posted some very respectable numbers. In 99 minor-league games, Bannon had 13 homers, 79 RBIs, and a .789 OPS. We’ll see if another team takes a flier on him, or if the Braves can get him back and stash him as organizational depth.
