The Braves only have three All-Stars representing them in Atlanta this year, and one of them — Chris Sale — will not even be able to participate after suffering a fractured rib cage last month.
However, ahead of tonight’s game, Sale did reveal some encouraging news, saying he will throw for the first time in four weeks
Chris Sale just told us at his locker that he’s going out to throw for the first time in 4 weeks.
Some notable #Braves news here before the All-Star Game.

The Braves placed Sale on the 60-day IL on July 1st, so the earliest he will be able to return is the middle of August. At that point, it might not be worth the risk for him to pitch again, given his lengthy history and the Braves will almost certainly be out of the postseason race.
However, that decision might not be up to the Braves. Chris Sale is the ultimate competitor. Even if the club is 20 games back by the time he is eligible to return, he likely will want to be out there with his teammates. So, providing there are no setbacks, it’s fair to expect Sale back at some point this season.
