Braves legend Ron Washington steps away from Angels due to health concerns

In some somber news, Braves legend and World Series champion Ron Washington is stepping down as the acting manager of the Angels indefinitely due to health concerns.

Washington has devoted his entire life to the game of baseball, first as a player and then as a coach. He’s been to multiple World Series back when he was the manager of the Rangers and won a World Series with the Braves as the club’s third base coach.

Washington was apart of Brian Snitker‘s staff for seven years, helping tutor an infield that grew into a plethora of All-Stars during his tenure. His brash no-nonsense attitude made him a fan favorite in Braves Country, and his relentless work ethic demanded respect from everybody in the clubhouse.

In 2023, Ron Washington finally got his opportunity to lead a club again, joining the Angels as their manager, a moment that was honestly long overdue. It’s certainly not the easiest of job. The Angels are notoriously one of the worst run organizations in all of sports, and the rosters he’s been given have been barren of talent. However, Los Angeles is way outperforming that talent this season, sitting at 36-39 and just a few games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League.

Hopefully, this situation isn’t too serious, and Washington can rejoin the team as they make a push for the playoffs. But more than anything, everyone in Braves Country is praying for his well-being.
