Braves make trade with Reds for Stuart Fairchild

Today, the Braves announced they have acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild in exchange for cash considerations. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, they’ve moved reliever Joe Jimenez to the 60-day IL.

Unfortunately, the 29-year-old Fairchild cannot pitch in high-leverage situations, which is what the Braves really need right now, but he is quality depth that can be stashed in Gwinnett in case of emergency.

Last season, Fairchild accrued 1.0 WAR over 94 games for the Reds, mostly thanks to his defense. He hit just .215 with eight homers and a .654 OPS. For his career, he’s accrued 2.1 WAR with a .697 OPS over 249 games.
