Unfortunately, the 29-year-old Fairchild cannot pitch in high-leverage situations, which is what the Braves really need right now, but he is quality depth that can be stashed in Gwinnett in case of emergency.
Last season, Fairchild accrued 1.0 WAR over 94 games for the Reds, mostly thanks to his defense. He hit just .215 with eight homers and a .654 OPS. For his career, he’s accrued 2.1 WAR with a .697 OPS over 249 games.
