Marcell Ozuna's wife Genesis is going to be spending some time away from the Atlanta Braves star after whacking him in the face with a soap dish, according to a report.
Ozuna's wife was arrested for misdemeanor battery, TMZ reports, and was booked into a Miami jail on May 29. The arrest came after a two-week police investigation into the alleged attack of the Braves outfielder, according to talk show host Andy Slater.
Ozuna suffered a small laceration to his face and reportedly drove to a police station to file a report following the attack. According to court documents, Genesis has pleaded not guilty to the charges and while she was initially ordered to stay away from Ozuna, that order may be modified.
The 29-year-old Ozuna has not yet commented on the situation publicly, but posted a photo of a "Marcell and Genesis" piece of jewelry to social media with the caption "Tu y yo para que la lleves en tu pecho siempre," which loosely translates to "You & I — so you can always carry it in your heart," TMZ added.
Ozuna recently signed a one-year, $18 million deal with the Braves after hitting .241 with 29 home runs, 89 RBIs and an .800 OPS last season with the St. Louis Cardinals. He has also played for the Miami Marlins and is a two-time All-Star with a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award.
