Braves place RHP Spencer Strider (oblique) on 15-day IL
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves placed rookie right-hander Spencer Strider on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a strained left oblique muscle.

Strider's designation is retroactive to Wednesday and was one of a series of moves made by the team ahead of Saturday's game in Philadelphia.

The team also reinstated infielder Ehire Adrianza from the 10-day injured list, recalled right-hander Alan Rangel from Double-A Mississippi and optioned infielder Rylan Bannon to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Strider, 23, is 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA in 31 games (20 starts) this season. The Rookie of the Year contender entered Saturday ranked fourth in the National League with 202 strikeouts in just 131 2/3 innings.

Adrianza, 33, went on the IL on Sept. 16 with a strained left quad. He is batting .125 in five games with the Braves since being acquired in an Aug. 1 trade with Washington.

Rangel, 25, has not made his major league debut. He is 5-8 with a 5.26 ERA in 26 starts this season at Mississippi.

Bannon, 26, was claimed off waivers by Atlanta on Aug. 16. He made his Braves debut during Friday's 9-1 loss to the Phillies, taking over at second base in the seventh inning. He did not have a plate appearance.
