Braves fans were thrown for a loop yesterday. On Friday, Ronald Acuña was left out of the lineup but told the media he felt fine and would be playing Saturday. However, the Braves decided to hold him out again on Saturday, citing continued soreness in his groin and then scheduled him for an MRI. Rightfully, Braves Country was more concerned with that than the result of the game yesterday. Thankfully, both couldn’t have turned out better.

After blowing another lead, the Braves finally showed some grit in the later innings and came back from a three-run deficit in the eighth inning. Marcell Ozuna tied the game up with a homer, and Austin Riley delivered the go-ahead RBI later in the inning with a double — one of his three hits on the day. Still, all of it would have been for not had the Braves received some damning news regarding Ronald Acuña. Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about that.

Following the game, Brian Snitker said the Braves received the best possible report regarding the injury, and Acuña is considered day-to-day.

While groin injuries are rarely season-ending, they can be difficult to come back from. Acuña would have hit the Injured List for at least a couple of weeks had this been any worse. If you’re counting, that’s two wins for the Braves on Saturday. Hopefully, they can round at the weekend with another against the Padres on Sunday.
