All-Star third baseman Austin Riley is in his seventh season as a member of the Atlanta Braves.
Riley was selected by the Braves in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft and debuted on their major-league roster during the 2019 regular season.
The 28-year-old has been an offensive force in Atlanta since then, earning three top-10 NL MVP finishes, two All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger awards. He also played a key role in the postseason, helping the Braves secure the 2021 World Series title.
Over 812 games in a Braves uniform, he has compiled a .272 batting average, an .831 OPS, 167 home runs and 477 RBIs, demonstrating elite offensive production at the hot corner.
Riley suffered a strained right abdominal muscle and was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 12. He sustained the injury during the July 11 game against the St. Louis Cardinals, exiting in the fourth inning, a setback that forced the team to adjust its lineup.
Today, the Braves received an update that Riley has been running in the outfield and rounding the bases. The expectation is that he will be activated from the injured list when he's eligible on Tuesday.

This is good news for Atlanta because Riley has had another productive season thus far. Over 93 games this year, he is batting .274 with a .764 OPS, 14 home runs and 48 RBIs.
Unfortunately, his injury added to a list of sidelined key players, contributing to a disappointing season as the Braves sit at 43–54, outside the playoff picture.
