Although they aren't changing their name, the Atlanta Braves have taken multiple measures to make their home ballpark and organization more inclusive.
According to the Associated Press, the Braves have removed the "Chop On" sign from the entrance to Truist Park due to its controversial nature. The removal of the wooden sign comes after the team changed its slogan from "Chop On" to "For the A" for the 2020 campaign.
Atlanta has not yet announced if it will continue to encourage the tomahawk chop and chant by fans this season. The chant caused a lot of commotion during last year's NL Division Series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cards pitcher Ryan Helsley, a member of the Cherokee Nation, found the chant insulting and disrespectful.
Since that incident, Atlanta has continued to evaluate the tomahawk chop and chant but has yet to make a decision on that front.
The organization likely feels no pressure to make an announcement on the chant as no fans will be allowed into MLB stadiums for the 2020 season.
Washington's NFL team has announced plans to change its team name, and baseball's Cleveland Indians are considering a name change.
