Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr., Yankees' Aaron Judge head list of 2022 MLB All-Star starters

MLB announced the starters for this year's Midsummer Classic on Friday night. 

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. finished with the most votes in the American and National League. 

Judge leads MLB in home runs (30) and is first in the AL in RBI (69). 

He's batting .287/.366/.627 with 87 hits and 40 walks. The 30-year-old will make his second straight All-Star appearance and fourth overall.  

The 24-year-old Acuna Jr. earns his third-career All-Star nod; he's batting .272/.367/.426 with seven home runs and 19 RBI. 

Alejandro Kirk of the Toronto Blue Jays will get the start behind the plate at catcher for the AL. Fellow Blue Jay Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was voted a starter at first base, with Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve, Boston Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers and Chicago White Sox SS Tim Anderson rounding out the AL infield. 

The AL outfield features Judge and Yankees teammate Giancarlo Stanton, along with Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim centerfielder Mike Trout. 

Angels two-way magician Shohei Ohtani will be the starting designated hitter for the AL. 

Chicago Cubs star Wilson Contreras will start at catcher for the NL. The NL infield starters include St. Louis Cardinals 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Miami Marlins 2B Jazz Chisholm, San Diego Padres 3B Manny Machado and Los Angeles Dodgers SS Trea Turner. 

Acuna Jr. will start alongside Dodgers star Mookie Betts and San Francisco Giants' Joc Pederson in the NL outfield. 

Reigning MVP Bryce Harper was named the first fan-voted NL All-Star at designated hitter. 

The 92nd MLB All-Star Game will be held at Dodger Stadium on July 19.
