Braves transfer the rehab assignment of Hurston Waldrep

According to Braves beat reporter Grant McAuley, The Braves are transferring the rehab assignment of Hurston Waldrep from the Florida Complex League to Double-A Columbus.

Hurston Waldrep has now completed two rehab outings, going two innings in each and stretching out to about 40 pitches. I imagine the plan is for him to make one, maybe two starts in Columbus before the Braves move him to Gwinnett for his final appearances before returning to Atlanta.

Waldrep will probably look to throw around 50 pitches his next time out. His stuff has looked good since returning, especially the heater, which is already sitting in the high-90s. However, his control has undoubtedly been a little off. That’s to be expected this early in the process, but given Waldrep’s history of control problems, it’s at least something to monitor moving forward.
