Vaughn Grissom explodes in Gwinnett
\Atlanta Braves second baseman Vaughn Grissom/ Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

While Ian Anderson imploded for the Gwinnett Stripers on Sunday, putting together one of the worst starts of his career at any level, it wasn’t all bad in Gwinnett. Vaughn Grissom had three hits, including this home run over the center field fence in the bottom of the 10th.

The Stripers would go on to lose by a score of 13-12 in 11 innings, but that’s not all that important when it comes to the Braves. They are looking for guys who can contribute in Atlanta, and Grissom continues to make his case to be on the roster. He now has five hits in 12 at-bats this season, including two triples and a homer. He’s also walked three times, giving him an on-base percentage north of .500. It won’t be long before he’s back with the Braves if he keeps performing like this, whether he figures it out defensively or not.

A couple of other names to watch: Braden Shewmake went 0-for-6. His offense isn't anywhere close to being major league-ready. However, Eli White is someone to keep an eye on. He had two homers on Sunday, and his OPS is up to 1.675. White is hoping to prove his hot spring training wasn’t a fluke and earn a spot on the Braves bench. His plus-defense and speed make him an intriguing option.
