The Arizona Diamondbacks named Chris Garagiola as radio play-by-play announcer for D-backs broadcasts for 2024. The broadcasts are on Arizona Sports 98.7 and the Arizona Diamondbacks Radio Network.
Garagiola is replacing long time announcer Greg Schulte, who retired after this past season. He spent the last two seasons sharing the broadcast duties with Schulte, handling most of the road games during the regular season. He also has been hosting the pre and postgame shows.
According to the team's news release, Garagiola’s broadcasting career includes time with the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos as the lead broadcaster and at Trinity University as a sports anchor on the university’s local news show. He’s also a founding member of the “Tiger Network,” the university’s first sports broadcasting service.
Chris was proceeded by both his father and grandfather in working for the Diamondbacks. His father, Joe Garagiola, Jr., is the former General Manager of the team from 1995-2005 and will forever be linked in bringing a championship to the valley. He currently serves as senior director, special projects for the organization. Chris’ grandfather, Hall-of-Famer Joe Garagiola, Sr., enjoyed a 58-year career in broadcasting, culminating with his final 15 seasons on D-backs broadcasts.
