On Thursday, the Athletics played the Philadelphia Phillies to conclude a three-game series. Designated hitter Brent Rooker, who came back from an oblique injury, stood out as he hit his 500th career hit, per Instagram.

“500 for Rook!!” the team posted.

The moment came with an RBI single in the top of the 4th inning with the Athletics leading 8-0. In the process, he joined the likes of Ricky Henderson, Al Simmons, and Bert Campaneris as the players who captured 500 hits with the franchise. The Athletics came away with a 12-1 victory, winning one out of three games.  They are now 19-18, leading the Seattle Mariners by one game in the American League West.

So far, Rooker is batting. 160 with three home runs, 12 RBIs, and 12 hits.

He has been with the Athletics since 2023 after playing for the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, and Minnesota Twins. From there, Rooker has emerged as one of the Athletics’ most formidable power hitters.

Last year, Rooker hit his 100th career home run in a game against the Cleveland Guardians. As of now, he has 112 career home runs, 305 RBIs, and a batting average of .256. He is also a two-time MLB All-Star and won the 2024 Silver Slugger Award. Rooker had three consecutive home run seasons from 2023 to 2025. During that period, he averaged 33 home runs and 90 RBIs.

In 2025, Rooker signed a five-year, $60 million contract extension. He played in all 162 games in 2025, batting .262 with 164 hits, 30 home runs, and 89 RBIs.

The Athletics will then head to Baltimore to play the Orioles in a three-game series beginning Friday.
