The New York Mets fell to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night at Citi Field. This loss dropped New York to 25-15, while the win improved Chicago to 23-17. Both teams sit atop their respective divisions, with New York holding a 1.5 game lead in the NL East while Chicago is up two games in the NL Central.
Saturday night was the second game of this three-game series between the Mets and Cubs. Jumping out to an early 4-0 lead, Chicago held of New York's comeback attempt to win 6-5.
New York received most of its offense from left-handed hitting infielder Brett Baty, who was appearing in just his third game since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
Driving in five of the Mets' six runs, Baty also hit two of his four home runs this season. The first was a three-run shot in the fourth inning that pulled the Mets within a run. His second homer of the game went the opposite way for a two-run shot.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Baty had just six words for his offensive eruption against Chicago.
"I like hitting the ball hard," he said.
What has Brett Baty liked about the at-bats he's been taking?

Selected 12th overall in the 2019 MLB Draft, Baty has been a highly-touted prospect his entire professional career. While he owns just a .623 OPS at the MLB level, Baty has dominated Minor League baseball with an .889 OPS in 328 games.
While it came in a loss, the Mets certainly hope Baty's performance on Saturday was a sign of things to come.
