Brewers Ace Represents Team’s Lone 2025 All-Star Selection

With a week to go until the All-Star break, the Milwaukee Brewers are 10 games above .500, second place in the NL Central, and holders of the second NL Wild Card spot. Many years, that would be a good enough team resume to earn multiple All-Star representatives.

Alas, that was not the case with the Brewers in 2025. Despite having the eighth best record in baseball at 50-40, eighth best offense at 4.67 runs per game, and tenth best team ERA at 3.77, just one player will be representing the Crew in Atlanta this summer.

In reality, this shouldn’t be that unexpected. The Brewers have been more of a well-rounded team with many very good players but not as many who have put up elite level performances in 2025.

Still, MLB rules mean that every team is required to have at least one representative in the All-Star game each year. The player named to the NL squad should be of little surprise to fans.

Ace Freddy Peralta is the Brewers’ All-Star Game representative for 2025.

All year, starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has been one of the most consistently good players on the Brewers, that goes for both position players and pitchers. Now, he makes his second career All-Star game.

Peralta is in the middle of his best season since his breakout year in 2021, the year of his other All-Star nod. In 18 games he is 9-4 with a 2.91 ERA, 1.091 WHIP, and .202 batting average against. His nine wins currently tie for the NL lead while his ERA and WHIP rank ninth and tenth, respectively.

One could’ve made a case for some other Brewers to be considered. Outfielder Sal Frelick is hitting .294 with a 1.7 bWAR and has been one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball. But if superstar Juan Soto couldn’t even make the roster, it’s not surprising that Frelick didn’t either.

Brice Turang is having a similarly impressive season with a .279 average, 17 steals, and 3.0 bWAR. Unfortunately, Arizona’s Ketel Marte and St. Louis’s Brendan Donovan are having great seasons in their own rights.

On the pitching side, closer Trevor Megill, who is second in the NL with 20 saves, absolutely could’ve been considered. Unfortunately, he couldn’t crack the roster over the Padres’ Jason Adam, the Giants’ Randy Rodriguez, and the Mets’ Edwin Diaz, all of which have been even more stingy to opposing hitters than Megill.

Roster replacements could result in some of those players sneaking their way onto the roster between now and next week. Whether that happens or not, no one argue that what is currently the Brewers’ lone All-Star representative isn’t an absolutely deserving one.
