Outfielder Jackson Chourio is in his second season with the Milwaukee Brewers after making his MLB debut last year.

The 21-year-old star signed a record-breaking extension with the Brewers—an eight-year, $82 million deal with two club options that could extend it to ten years. The contract was considered groundbreaking as it was the largest ever given to a player before appearing in the big leagues.

Chourio quickly proved his value as an offensive threat at the top of Milwaukee’s order, making his contract look like a steal. He finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting and 22nd in MVP voting, playing a key role in Milwaukee capturing its third NL Central title in four seasons.

During Tuesday’s game in the fifth inning against the division rival Chicago Cubs, Chourio left the game with an injury immediately after hitting a triple.

Moments later, the team announced on X, “Jackson Chourio left tonight's game with a right hamstring spasm.”

Chourio has continued to deliver in his second year with Milwaukee, and losing him for any extended stretch would be a major blow. In 105 games this season, he owns a .274 batting average, .777 OPS, 17 home runs and 18 stolen bases. He’s been especially hot in July, batting .356 with a .975 OPS, four home runs and 17 RBIs over 22 games.

The Brewers entered Tuesday’s matchup against the Cubs with a 63–43 record, holding the best mark in all of Major League Baseball.
