Brewers' Brandon Woodruff not expected to return until end of June

The Milwaukee Brewers have been without starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff since April 7, just his second start of the season. Since then, he has undergone two MRIs with results coming back “positive,” but the team's most recent timeline for return is estimated to be at the end of June.

Brandon Woodruff’s MRI results were “positive” all things considered, Matt Arnold just told us. If things progress as hoped, he is trending toward a return at the end of June.

Woodruff was initially thought to be going through some early season fatigue and inflammation, but his image findings have shown that he sustained a strain to one of his rotator cuff muscles. The Brewers shut him down since discovering this.

To clarify the Brewers' timeline, Woodruff is targeting a return to the big leagues by the end of June. Along with continuing to heal and rehab, he will have to go through a ramp-up period before returning to the Brew Crew.

Once he returns, Woodruff will have the benefit of not having a lot of mileage under his belt during the 2023 season. If fully healthy, this could set him up for a big second half of the season in which the Brewers are expected to be making a playoff push.
