Brewers Dealt Unfortunate News During Dodgers Series

The Milwaukee Brewers placed high-leverage reliever Abner Uribe on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right forearm strain, adding another concern to an injury-hit roster. The move came before Milwaukee’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. MLB reported that Uribe’s injury was diagnosed as a flexor strain, although the Brewers expect him to serve only the minimum stint.

Uribe has been one of Milwaukee’s most dependable bullpen arms this season. He entered the injured list with a 2.05 ERA, 1.034 WHIP and 48 strikeouts across 48.1 innings, making his absence a notable blow as the Brewers continue chasing the National League’s best record.

The timing is difficult because Milwaukee is already dealing with injuries elsewhere on the roster. Second baseman Brice Turang is sidelined with a left knee issue, while rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt is dealing with a hamstring strain, leaving the club without several important pieces.

The Brewers entered Friday with a 75-48 record and a narrow lead over the Dodgers in the National League standings. Milwaukee had also just rallied for a 5-4 victory over Los Angeles in the series opener, making Uribe’s placement another setback during a critical road trip.

Milwaukee’s bullpen will now have to absorb Uribe’s innings while the club manages its injury list. The Brewers recalled right-hander Grant Anderson to take Uribe’s roster spot, giving manager Pat Murphy another option in relief.

The Dodgers responded Friday with a 3-1 victory, evening the series at one game apiece. Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out nine over six innings, while Andy Pages recorded three hits and a home run as Los Angeles moved within one game of Milwaukee.

The Brewers will turn to Jacob Misiorowski on Saturday as they look to regain their series advantage. With Uribe unavailable, Milwaukee’s depth will face another test against a Dodgers lineup capable of creating pressure throughout the game.
