Brewers’ Garrett Mitchell Comments on Comeback Win Against Dodgers

The Milwaukee Brewers looked headed for another frustrating loss Thursday night before Garrett Mitchell delivered a message that summed up the club's identity after a dramatic 5-4 comeback win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"That's Brewers baseball right there," Mitchell said after Milwaukee erased a two-run deficit in the ninth inning. The Brewers later echoed his reaction on social media with the caption, "Back to what we do best," celebrating another late rally from the National League's top team.

The comeback improved Milwaukee to 75-47, giving it the best record in the National League and a two-game edge over Los Angeles in the overall standings.

The Brewers trailed 4-2 entering the ninth after Max Muncy's record-setting three-run pinch-hit homer put the Dodgers in front. Milwaukee responded with four straight one-out singles against closer Edwin Díaz, beginning with Jackson Chourio's RBI hit before Mitchell tied the game with a line drive to right that scored David Hamilton. Jake Bauers then followed with the go-ahead RBI ground ball after the Dodgers turned to Alex Vesia.

Mitchell finished 1-for-5 with the game-tying RBI, while Chourio added an RBI single and scored the winning run. DL Hall earned the win after two scoreless innings, and Trevor Megill worked a perfect ninth for his 22nd save.

The victory also snapped Milwaukee's three-game skid after being swept by the San Diego Padres, showing the resilience Mitchell referenced in his postgame remarks.

Mitchell's comment reflected more than one swing. The Brewers have built a reputation this season for refusing to let games slip away, and Thursday's rally against one of the National League's biggest contenders added another example.

The four-game series continues Friday with Milwaukee looking to build on its momentum as it tries to maintain the league's best record while the Dodgers attempt to halt a recent stretch of bullpen struggles.
