Like the rest of the 29 other teams in Major League Baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers are waiting for the sport's lockout to end. Even though MLB and MLBPA met for the first time recently, the lockout has now stretched past 50 days.
The Brewers are staying busy, however, as they reportedly made a significant personnel move on Sunday.
Former Phillies GM Matt Klentak is joining the Brewers as a special assistant, sources tell me and @MattGelb. The Phillies reassigned Klentak to a position as strategy and development officer after he stepped down as GM in Oct. 2020. Had one year left on his deal with the Phils.

Klentak began his career in the majors in 2003 in the Colorado Rockies' baseball operations department, before working in MLB's labor relations department for four years. From 2008 to 2011, the now-41-year-old served as MLB's Director of Baseball Operations.
From 2011 to 2015, Klentak was the assistant general manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, a time that coincided with the first five seasons of Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout's career. Klentak was officially hired as the Phillies general manager in October 2015.
