Brewers manager shares emotional letter after postseason clinch

Before the 2025 MLB season, PECOTA gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 26 percent chance of making the playoffs. Many so-called experts and analysts believed they would finish below .500 and in third or fourth place in the National League Central division.

Now, on Sept. 14, the Brewers are the first team in the league to clinch a postseason berth, have the best record in Major League Baseball and hold a 6.5-game lead in the division. Before its game on Saturday night, Milwaukee learned that it had clinched a postseason berth following a New York Mets loss. It followed that up with a wild 9-8 comeback victory in extra innings over the St. Louis Cardinals, giving it the chance to celebrate its achievement on a high note.

This is the seventh time in the last eight years that the Brewers have made it to the postseason. That said, it is the first time that they will go to the playoffs without legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, who passed away from cancer on Jan. 16.

All season long, Milwaukee has played with the mantra "Win it for Ueck," who unfortunately never saw the team he loved win a World Series. And as the players celebrated their achievement, manager Pat Murphy read a letter Uecker left for them before he passed away, only to be read when they clinched the playoffs again in 2025 (like he knew they would):
