Brewers Nearing Full Strength After Abner Uribe Update

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe has taken another step toward returning from the injured list after beginning a minor league rehab assignment with the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Uribe is one of Milwaukee’s key late-inning arms, and his return would give manager Pat Murphy another high-leverage option as the Brewers continue their push toward October.

The update came directly from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ official X account, which announced that Uribe would pitch for the club Tuesday night as part of his rehabilitation assignment.

Uribe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI reportedly showed no structural damage, allowing the Brewers to take a more optimistic approach to his recovery.

Before the injury, Uribe had put together 21 consecutive scoreless appearances dating back to June 20. He entered his IL stint with a 2.05 ERA and 48 strikeouts across 48.1 innings in 49 appearances.

His return would also help restore Milwaukee’s preferred late-inning structure. Uribe has worked as a setup option ahead of closer Trevor Megill, giving Murphy another reliable arm for difficult situations in the seventh and eighth innings.

The Brewers entered Tuesday with an MLB-best 81-50 record and a 5.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Milwaukee has also gone 43-22 against teams with records of .500 or better, underscoring the club’s strength against quality competition.

With Uribe now beginning his rehab assignment, Milwaukee can focus on getting him back to full strength rather than rushing his return. If the right-hander continues progressing without setbacks, his presence could provide another significant boost to an already strong bullpen.
