Brewers place 1B Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) on IL
Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers placed first baseman Rhys Hoskins on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a strained right hamstring and recalled infielder/outfielder Owen Miller from Triple-A Nashville.

Hoskins departed Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after a single in the second inning.

"I just felt a little grab in the hamstring and I've kind of learned over the years, especially not to push soft-tissue stuff like that," Hoskins said Monday.

Hoskins missed all of last season with the Philadelphia Phillies after surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee.

Hoskins, 31, was batting .233 with a team-leading nine home runs and 27 RBIs. In seven seasons, the first six of which were with the Phillies, Hoskins is a career .242 hitter with 157 home runs and 432 RBIs in 705 games.

Miller, 27, had one hit in 12 at-bats with the Brewers earlier this season. In parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Guardians and Brewers, he is a career .239 hitter with 15 home runs and 98 RBIs in 287 games.
