The 29-year-old righty sustained the injury in his last start on Friday against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Brewers manager Craig Counsel told the media Woodruff was feeling pain while throwing and isn't sure of a timetable for when he will return.
Brandon Woodruff is going on 15-day IL with a high right ankle sprain,Craig Counsell said. He returned to Milwaukee last night to see Dr. Raasch. He’s still feeling pain/soreness after throwing yesterday. They’re hopeful it’ll be close to the minimum time.

The timing isn't great for the Brewers, who also had to put Freddy Peralta on IL due to a strained shoulder. Woodruff is hopeful, however, that he won't be out for long.
"I don't think it's going to be a monthlong deal or nothing," Woodruff told the media."I'm hoping it's going to be a couple of weeks and I get to be back out there."
Brandon Woodruff on his ankle injury: "It’s very bad timing because Freddy just went down and he’s going to be out for a while. I don’t think it’s going to be a monthlong deal or nothing. I’m hoping it’s going to be a couple of weeks and I get to be back out there."
