Brewers Roster Moves: Call-Up Colin Rea, Option Janson Junk, DFA Payton Henry

Junk made his Brewers debut Wednesday, receiving the start against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Junk allowed four earned runs off seven hits, two walks and a home run over 4.2 innings pitched. The club acquired him, along with other pitchers in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Hunter Renfroe over the winter.

Rea has not appeared in a Major League game since 2021, when he allowed five runs off seven hits and two home runs while throwing six innings in relief for the Brewers. After spending the past year in Japan, the Brewers signed Rea to a minor league deal in January.

Henry, a sixth round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, batted just .143 in 35 plate appearances this season, while posting a .314 On Base Percentage and .457 OPS.

While many picked the St. Louis Cardinals to repeat as National League Central champions, the Brewers have impressed through the first two weeks of the season, leading the NL Central with an 8-4 record. The Pittsburgh Pirates (7-5) trail the Brew Crew by one game, entering play Thursday. The Brewers will open a four-game series with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego.
