As the regular season enters the final month, the Milwaukee Brewers are riding high after their best stretch of the year, finishing August with a 21–9 record — the best mark in the league.

A huge reason for the team’s overall success was Brice Turang, who unexpectedly led the way at the plate with elite production.

The 25-year-old infielder is primarily known for his Gold Glove-caliber defense — he won both a Gold Glove and Platinum Glove in 2024 — but his bat has taken a major step forward in his third full season with Milwaukee.

Turang has posted a .289 batting average, .356 on-base percentage, .798 OPS and 17 home runs, already surpassing the 13 total homers he hit across his first two seasons.

Turang's offensive numbers are elevated thanks to an absurd month of August, where he performed as the best hitter in baseball.

For his efforts, Turang was named the NL Player of the Month, and the Brewers posted a graphic detailing his dominance:

  • First in slugging percentage (.694)
  • First in OPS (1.092)
  • First in wRC+ (200)
  • First in total bases (75)
  • Ten home runs, fourth most in MLB

The team wrote, “The most productive hitter in all of baseball last month.”

Turang’s breakout month has the Brewers entering Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies in sole possession of first place in the NL Central at 85–54, holding a five-game lead over the Chicago Cubs.

His ability to drive the ball in August was completely uncharacteristic and a pleasant surprise. His 10 home runs in August alone surpassed his entire season totals in 2023 (six) and 2024 (seven).

The Brewers will hope Turang can continue this power surge to help the team secure its fourth division title in five years.
