Brewers SP Adrian Houser headed to IL with right elbow tightness

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Adrian Houser is reportedly headed to the injured list with right elbow tightness.

Houser left Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third inning after throwing only 42 pitches. The right-hander grimaced after throwing a pitch during his outing, which prompted a visit from the team's trainer. After a short conversation, Houser exited the game.

Houser will head back to Milwaukee for an MRI Friday.

The 29-year-old had Tommy John surgery back in 2016, causing concern about the sudden tightness in his elbow. However, after the game, Houser said he went through physical strength tests that "seemed all right."

Houser has a 4-8 record in 14 starts for the Brewers this season. He's posted a 4.50 ERA, with 57 strikeouts and 30 walks in 74.0 innings.

Last season, Houser posted his best season in the majors, finishing 10-6 with a 3.22 ERA in 26 starts.
