Brothers Joshua, Richie Palacios Face Off as Pittsburgh Pirates Best St. Louis Cardinals
USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals are sitting in fourth and fifth in the NL Central, but their matchup Monday night still featured some must-watch moments.

Joshua Palacios was in the Pirates' starting lineup, while his younger brother, Richie, came off the bench for the Cardinals. Their family was in the stands for the game, watching the two outfielders face off for the first time in the big leagues.

Joshua Palacios drew a walk in the first inning, then struck out looking in the third. Then, in the bottom of the fourth, Palacios crushed a three-run home run to right, squeezing it by the foul pole and out of the park.

When he made it back to the dugout, Palacios stared down the TV camera and said "I'm the older brother."

Richie finally got in on the action in the top of the ninth, pinch hitting for Willson Contreras and slapping a single to left.

Joshua got the last laugh, though, making a diving catch to end the game.

The older Palacios brother went 2-for-4 with five RBI. The 28-year-old is now batting .220 with five home runs, 23 RBI and a .656 OPS in 58 games this season.

Richie Palacios, just five games into his stint in St. Louis, is batting .300 with three RBI and a .700 OPS. The 26-year-old has already amassed a 0.3 WAR in his limited time at the major league level.

The Pirates went on to win 11-1 on Monday, burying the Cardinals 1.5 games into last place in the NL Central.

Game two of the divisional series at PNC Park gets underway at 7:05 p.m. ET.
