The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced their 2025 Spring Breakout roster, headlined by top prospects Bubba Chandler and Konnor Griffin.

The Spring Breakout game made its debut last season, featuring games that showcased each organization’s prospects to highlight the future of Major League Baseball.

Last season, the Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 in a game that was headlined by then-top pitching prospect Paul Skenes and the game’s top overall prospect in Ethan Holliday. Skenes struck out two of the three batters he faced — one being Holliday — in a 1-2-3 first inning.

This year, prospects from the Pirates will face those from the Philadelphia Phillies on March 14 at 1:05 ET.

Pirates Prospects to Know

Bubba Chandler

Chandler, to unanimous top prospect in the Pirates’ organization, headlines a group of 11 pitchers on the roster. Chandler spent most of last season with Double-A Altoona and shined across seven starts with Triple-A Indianapolis after a promotion. With Indianapolis, Chandler went 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA and struck out 54 batters in 39.1 innings.

Konnor Griffin

The Pirates’ most recent first-rounder, Griffin will get a chance to show off his skills for the Pirates. In six games this spring, Griffin has gone 2 for 8 with a home run, a pair of RBIs and three runs scored.

Termarr Johnson

Johnson will compete in the spring breakout game for the second-straight year. The 2023 first-rounder posted a .757 OPS and hit 13 home runs with High-A Greensboro last year before a late-season promotion to Altoona.
