Cardinals Legend Yadier Molina, Brothers to Be Featured in Upcoming Film

Cardinals fans will soon get the chance to see one of their legends honored on the big screen.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the iconic musicals Hamilton and In the Heights, has announced a new movie project focused on the Molina brothers — Bengie, José, and Yadier — a family of catchers who not only became legends of the game but were the first trio of brothers in MLB history to each win a World Series title.

The Molina brothers all hail from Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, which also happens to be Miranda’s father’s hometown.

Speaking to La Chica Deportes' Jennifer Mercedes, Miranda said, "Vega Alta is home to an appalling number of Major League Baseball players, not just the Molina brothers but also Bernie Williams. To be able to honor that in a movie is something we’re actively trying to do. We claim them for Vega Alta."

While Miranda didn’t confirm much besides the idea of the project, he emphasized how important it is to spotlight Latino stories and heroes like the Molina brothers. "I’m trying to write great parts that I would want to play — and, in turn, create more wonderful roles for Latino actors."

For Cardinals fans, the film promises to shine an even brighter light on the remarkable legacy of Yadier Molina — a St. Louis icon and one of the game's greatest catchers.

Molina spent all 19 seasons of his Major League career in St. Louis, earning 10 All-Star selections, 9 Gold Gloves and 4 Platinum Gloves.

He helped the Cardinals capture four National League pennants and two World Series titles (2006 and 2011), while catching 2,184 games — the fourth-most by any player in Major League history.

Since retiring after the 2022 season, Molina has remained heavily involved in the game, managing in Puerto Rico and Venezuela, and he is set to lead Team Puerto Rico once again at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
